Hi, I’m Lilian, and I run CATWANT North America from our office in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
CATWANT is not just a brand I work for. It is part of my family, and its story begins with someone very special to us — my grandma.
My grandma was the heart of our Hsu family. Her home in Gaoshu Township, Taiwan, was a place where our family gathered, and the farm behind her house was where we grew up playing as children.
After she passed away, the house became quiet. No one lived there anymore, and for a long time, that was difficult for our family. It was hard to accept that people grow older, places change, and the things we remember from childhood don't stay the same forever.
Then, little by little, we found a new purpose for the place.
We turned the farm behind her house into our catnip farm and began using part of the house as our workshop. What had once been quiet slowly became busy again — people coming and going, working together, harvesting catnip, making toys, and sharing meals and stories.
In a way, CATWANT brought life back to a place that had become very quiet.
And that is one of the reasons CATWANT is so special to me. Every time I see our catnip growing there, or watch our family working together, I feel like a little part of the life we had with Grandma is still with us.
This is where our story begins.
